We Shipped Up to Boston...

We have friends scattered all over the country, and oh, how we miss them. In fact, I was just thinking today about how great it would be if I could come up with some crazy reason for all of our best friends to move back to Minnesota for good. Until that happens, we'll have to settle for fun-filled vacations!

Boston holds a special place in our hearts. Rain, more rain, chowder, Harvard, traffic, North End, more rain. Nic and I agree that living there for a year (July 2008 - June 2009) with some of our best buddies was really a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This past November, we wanted to take advantage of the fabulous time off we had together with our Green Bean. So we packed up the car, and road-tripped our way out East. Bennett was a little champ. He slept most of the time while we were driving, and enjoyed visiting random travel plazas for snacks and diaper changes.

We stopped off in Palatine, IL and Erie, PA on the way there. (Thanks Angela and Seth, and Meghan and Brandon!) An early evening walk by Lake Erie was just what we needed after two days of driving. We even caught a beautiful sunset. And then Bennett was so sleepy.

When we rolled into Boston, more fun ensued. Fun, food and friends! Woo hoo! It was so great to show Bennett all of our favorite places. He was totally an urban baby - snuggled up in his carrier on the T, strolling down Newbury Street, and soaking up knowledge at Harvard. Oh, and a little sleeping in, too.

We were told by some of our friends that we're super cool because we aren't "baby hermits". I guess some parents kind of worry about taking their little ones on big adventures. Yes, staying at home is the easiest and most comfortable option, but with a little planning, some patience, and a good sense of humor, traveling with a baby is no big deal. Hopefully there will be many more exciting travel adventures to share. In the meantime, our daily adventures will have to do.
